A warning

If you are going to see Lauryn Hill, prepare to wait. Last night, doors were at 7:30, she didn’t start til midnight….just sayin’.

Also, super bummed because I missed seeing this guy!!!!!

Apparently, he walked right out the door 20 feet away from my bar. UGGGH!

Goodbye, garbage strewn road, where the dogs of society howl...

Friday will be my last day in Bushwick. I have lived here for the last 3 years, literally surrounded by several housing projects, overhead trains and mounds of trash.

Things I will miss:

  • The discount store.
  • I can buy a Sidral Mundet for a mere dollar.
  • The train station is 2 blocks away and it’s an express stop.
  • I can get a triple decker, shampoo, make a deposit and pay my phone bill in an hour’s time.
  • The nice Puerto Ricans that think Hank is awesome.
  • The laundromat that uses the best smelling soap and gets our stuff extra clean.
  • Our apartment (I really like the actual room, just not where it is)

Things I will NOT miss

  • The trash everywhere
  • The loud ass neighbors (both in the building and the hood) that think everyone wants to here their bass.
  • The fact that I have to travel at least 15 minutes to go to a restaurant for a nice sit down meal.
  • Food delivery is limited to pizza and the horrible, terrible Life Cafe
  • Taking cars to get home
  • The massive amount of stairs I have to climb.
  • Our building
  • The horrendous lines at the Food Dimensions
  • The men that hit on me…ugh

All in all, I think this is a good idea to move. Adieu. So Long. Auf Wiedersehen. Farewell.

Things that Todd says

“This movie sure has a lot of finger banging in it”

(in regards to Black Swan. He said this in a silent theater slightly too loudly.)

In case you were wondering, the movie is great, visually especially. However, it was a bit intense to watch on Christmas…between all the finger banging, vomiting and blood.

Fa ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra!

On Saturday, I am going to be having my first Jewish Christmas in Chinatown ever! I am really excited about this, even though I generally hate Chinese food (anyone have a suggestion on a good chinese restaurant?). I am hoping that it will be much like the scene in A Christmas Story when they go to the Chinese restaurant after the dogs eat their turkey. I want caroling. I want the waiter to chop off the duck’s head right in front of me. It’s gonna rule. Afterwards, we are going to see Black Swan.

High Security

Today I temped at this office where you needed a code to make a photocopy. What was going on that they took these extreme measures? Were the employees making 500 fliers for their book club meeting or perhaps for their rockin’ Pink Floyd tribute band? Codes.

*(I also had to get a card to go up to their floor and I could ONLY visit their floor. And no, it was not a division of NASA. WTF?)
